Why Stand Up Paddleboard

While I will always be a hiker at heart, summer opens up a ton of new options for sports, including watersports! I’ve recently gotten into stand up paddleboarding or SUPing. I was thrilled to find that there are tons of places around Pittsburgh to go stand up paddleboarding. It’s a great way to stay active and beat the summer heat!

It’s a super relaxing activity. While it took some balancing at first, I have successfully not fallen off on multiple outings now. If you don’t feel comfortable standing at first, it’s also pretty easy to get around the lake while kneeling. I highly recommend giving stand up paddleboarding a try.

I don’t own a paddleboard so I have to rent one. In this post, I’ve listed out the best places to rent SUPs near Pittsburgh, with location, pricing, website and local tips!

Read on for more information about the best places to go stand up paddleboarding near Pittsburgh.

As always, follow the principles of leave no trace when you're out exploring! Pack out all trash, leave wildlife alone, and generally leave it better than you found it - for more information visit the Leave No Trace Center.
